Meeting Mariah and Brandon and photographing their wedding day at VanLandingham is one of the best things to ever happen to us! Mariah and Brandon actually found us because our clients, Alex and Jake, raved about us (thanks guys!). We got to meet two new incredible people, see our other clients/friends since they were guests, and work with a dream team of many of our favorite vendors! Add in all the sweet and special moments on the wedding day and it was basically a perfect wedding.
We consider the VanLandingham Estate one of the Best Charlotte Wedding Venues because it literally has the best of everything! Outdoor ceremony space? Check. Rain alternative? Check. Getting ready spaces on site? Check. Best Impressions Catering? Heck yes! Plus, so many fun little alcoves for photos such as the greenhouse, the garden areas, the carport, and more! Mariah and Brandon maximized their time at VanLandingham by utilizing all of these spaces throughout the wedding day and only used a little added greenery to enhance the property’s preexisting charm.
The Bridal Suite at VanLandingham Estate is made with brides and photographers in mind. There are big mirrors, pretty chandeliers, and lots of natural light. Mariah and her girls spent their morning getting ready here and we arrived just as Mariah was finalizing her letter and gift for Brandon. Meanwhile, Brandon was hanging out down the hall with his guys and, when it was time, one of the bridesmaids assisted in the exchange of gifts. The craziest thing was that Mariah and Brandon actually got each other the EXACT. SAME. THING! Customized Shinola watches! The bridesmaid also filmed Brandon opening his gift, so Mariah got to see his reaction too!
Ever since booking Vanlandingham for their wedding, Mariah knew she wanted pictures in that greenhouse. Due to it’s hidden location, it was the perfect place for an intimate first look. Brandon also had another surprise up his sleeve… he had a friend bring their dog, Poppy, to surprise Mariah. She went from being emotional from the first look to hysterically happy to see her fur baby. After calming down and taking some portraits around the grounds, we headed back to the house to prepare for the ceremony when we ran into Mariah’s mother. Her mom had actually been in the hospital up until that very morning and it was unknown if she would make it to the wedding. Being without your parents on a such an important day can be really really hard, so we are very glad she was able to be there.
The ring bearers clearly had the best job at this wedding. Instead of carrying rings, the five young boys had bubble guns to walk down the aisle with! Mariah and Brandon shared some really sweet vows, but the ceremony was short and sweet overall.
Vanlandingham has a massive tent set up to the side of the house that is perfect for receptions or even a covered ceremony. The dancefloor was set up in the middle of the tent and was packed all night long by the bride, groom, and their guests. It was one heck of a fun night and we even got a chance to sneak them away for a few fun night portraits!
