Terrace at Cedar Hill

Also managed by Best Impressions Caterers, this venue is located at the very edge of 277 to the west. This venue is one of our favorites because of the variety of setups that you can have in the space. You can have your ceremony and reception in the exact same space, and there’s a TON of parking for all of your guests as well. The view of Uptown Charlotte is like no other. Check out Kelly and Ryan’s Terrace at Cedar Hill Wedding!

Terrace at Cedar Hill

SpringHill Suites Charlotte Uptown

With skyline views and many built-in amenities, SpringHill Suites Charlotte Uptown is not to be overlooked. The Hornets Nest Ballroom is located on the 16th floor of the hotel and has floor to ceiling windows and access to two private outdoor patios. Guests can stay on-site and it’s right in the middle of uptown with easy access to public transportation and restaurants. And, if you ask nicely, you may also get permission to take photos on top of the hotel parking deck, which can be hard to get in uptown.

The Mint Museum Uptown

Not to be confused with the other location of The Mint Museum on Randolph Road, this venue offers one of the most unique settings and reception spaces all around – in an art museum. The main ceremony space has a massive glass window backdrop and is surrounded by wall to ceiling sculptures and art. For your reception, the Grand Room upstairs has a gorgeous and open space for all of your guests, and an accessible patio to be able to get some fresh air. You can pick and choose your spaces here and really customize your day!

Founder’s Hall

Managed by Best Impressions Caterers, this massive Uptown venue is perfect for large events, and for weddings, it can make for an elegant extravaganza. When you choose Founder’s Hall, you not only get a gorgeous event hall that can fit a ton of people, but full catering is now also included. We love the uptown setting, the massive glass ceiling, and the two story design. Best Impressions is also able to add tables, chairs, linens, draping, and uplighting to the space to give it a crazy cool ambiance.

Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte

The Grand Bohemian Hotel is located right uptown and is relatively new to the city. There are SO many cool spaces, patios, gardens, and unique settings in and around the hotel, making it a photographer’s playground. Not only are the rooms gorgeous, but the garden out to the side is a perfect place for a ceremony or first look, along with the spacious patio with a wall of flowers and a beautiful view of the city. Pair all that with an in house Argentinian catering service, and you’ve got yourself a winner.

Urban Garden

Adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, the Urban Garden boasts a massive atrium space with an epic staircase and multiple settings to accommodate all parts of the wedding day. There are 3 levels: the Overlook (pictured here), Upper Garden, and Lower Garden. Generally we’ve seen the Lower Garden used for cocktail hour, the Upper Garden for ceremony, and the a combination of the upper spaces for reception seating and dancing. All the natural light and indoor trees make this venue unlike any other!

The Morehead Inn

Combined lodging as well as indoor and outdoor options make this a definite favorite for us. The Morehead Inn is easily accessible from Uptown, and is incredibly gorgeous. In addition, it has 12 rooms for guests to stay in, enabling couples to stay the night there and wake up and get ready for their day. They also have a tent setup available in case of bad weather, making it absolutely worry-free.

  • Address: 1122 E Morehead St, Charlotte, NC 28204
  • Capacity: An inside reception can hold up to 175, and Outdoor can hold up to 250.
  • Feel: Elegant, Classic, Indoor, Outdoor

St. Mary’s Chapel

For those who are looking for something more quaint and religious, but still surrounded by the city, this tiny chapel might go unnoticed if you don’t know what you’re looking for. This beautiful place was designated a historical venue since 1975, and is actually owned by Mecklenburg County. However, don’t be fooled, because between the gorgeous stained glass and proximity to the greenway for portraits, St. Mary’s still can hold it’s weight against the largest uptown venues for ceremony spaces. We’ve seen most couples have their ceremony here, and then travel to somewhere larger for a reception.

  • Address: 1129 E 3rd St A, Charlotte, NC 28204
  • Pricing Information: $500 for Mecklenburg County Residents, $600 for Non-County Residents
  • Feel: Charming, Historic, Indoor

The Hamilton (Previously 8.2.0. Pizzeria & Bar)

Even though our beloved 8.2.0. has closed, it has recently reopened as The Hamilton Event Spaces. The Hamilton offers five event spaces and they kept the private karaoke room as one of them! You can choose to rent out the whole venue for a large gathering, or just a portion of the space for a more intimate affair. The Full Event Room can be decorated with lights and drapery, and can fit a surprising amount of people to have a pretty large open dance floor as well as a flipped ceremony/reception space. The in-house catering still serves some of the old 8.2.0. favorites, but they’ve expanded their offerings to include a breakfast buffet, grab and go sandwich platters for lunch, and a full dinner and drink menu.

Featuring a huge dance floor and a built in stage, and onsite food and beverage, The Big Chill is a hidden gem of a place to host a wedding reception, especially if you’re considering a live band.

Norfolk Hall

If anybody has an affinity with exposed wood , Norfolk Hall is the PERFECT place to bring a bit of an industrial feel to your wedding. This venue is actually managed by QC Catering, which means that all of your food needs are in good hands. You’ll also be right next to Suffolk Punch, which can cater all of your beer needs throughout the night!

Canopy by Hilton Charlotte Southpark

The Canopy by Hilton Charlotte Southpark is a relatively new, open ballroom type space, and with 5 spaces available for your use, there are so many possibilities to host your wedding here. The ballroom is the perfect place for a large reception, both seated and standing. The ease of having a hotel for your guests to stay and a built in kitchen to your venue can also be absolutely invaluable, and for that reason, we think it’s definitely a venue to consider!

Outdoor Wedding Venues in Charlotte NC

VanLandingham Estate

One of Charlotte’s newest venues is nestled right off the Plaza! Renovated and managed by Best Impression Caterers, it is beautiful all on it’s own and doesn’t need much in the way of décor. The terrace to the side of the house is massive with a view of the gardens, which makes it perfect for both ceremony and reception with a cocktail hour inside the historic home. There is also a large bridal suite with lots of windows and mirrors and a few other smaller getting-ready spaces on-site.

Alexander Homestead

A beautiful all-inclusive venue, Alexander Homestead has a gorgeous property with the actual house for getting ready, a ceremony space outdoors with a gazebo and string lights, and a fully indoor barn to host your reception. Whitehead Manor

We love this venue for it’s historic charm and picturesque locations for both ceremony and reception. We personally recommend saying your vows in front of a beautiful arcing tree branch covered in vines that’s located to the side of the house. Then send your guests to the courtyard for the reception which is strung up with lots of market lights and a clear tent top for dancing under the stars!

The 1932 Barn

The 1932 Barn is an awesome indoor/outdoor barn venue due to the spacious reception area and separate designated getting-ready rooms. With an outdoor ceremony space that’s under the cover of a large tree, a fully indoor reception space, and cocktail hour scattered around the property with little nooks for people to relax, this place is as upscale rustic as it gets. We adore working here, as the property is also a working farm and has animals roaming around! Check out Hannah and Ethan’s 1932 Barn Wedding!

The McGill Rose Garden

McGill Rose Garden is a private getaway for a small wedding. Although it’s right outside of uptown, you’re fully surrounded by greenery in a magical garden setting. This venue gets bonus points for being connected to Rosie’s Wine Garden to help out with cocktail hour 😉

The Duke Mansion

Built in 1915, this historic home in Charlotte serves as both a wedding venue and a bed and breakfast! The venue is known for its magnificent gardens and the iconic black and white marble flooring on the main floor.

Pleasant Grove Farm

If you love the idea of a barn wedding, but don’t want to go too rustic, check out Pleasant Grove Farm, just 8 miles from uptown Charlotte! The main point of interest on this property is the large (4,500 sq. ft) post-and-beam barn which can be used as a ceremony backdrop and/or a reception space. In addition, the estate also boasts a newly renovated colonial-style home as a getting ready area and acres of rolling hills all within a short drive from Charlotte. It’s literally the best of both worlds!

Vesuvius Vineyards

A little further out, Vesuvius Vineyards is a beautiful historic venue with numerous options when it comes to choosing a ceremony location. You can have your ceremony facing the house for a more historic feel or choose a backdrop of tall trees out on the lawn. They also have a Wedding Chapel that can be used for ceremonies or cocktail hour. The whole property is over 700 acres and you technically have access to as much as you’re willing to trek to. The Venue Coordinators, Jay and Kristy, are two of the nicest people we know and they will work hard to make sure your day is exactly as you want it.

The Venues at Langtree

With five different event spaces, the possibilities are endless at Langtree. They also partner exclusively with Bouk Catering and include everything from furniture to linens when you book them as your venue! Just 20 minutes north of Charlotte, the Venues at Langtree are just a mile off the highway and easily accessible. But you can also add-on the Langtree Trolley to transport your guests to and from local hotels. The Venues at Langtree is an awesome all-inclusive option for the couple looking for a stress-free day!

The Laboratory Mill

Looking for a big venue? Look no further! The “Lab Mill”, as it is affectionately called, is a massive old cotton mill that was later used as a medical laboratory. Now, it has been fully renovated into a wedding venue with two main indoor event spaces that can be used on a wedding day. A river runs behind the mill (it used to power it) and there’s a small beach you can cross to reach it and take pictures in front of the falls.

Separk Mansion

It’s a beautiful mansion with a massive formal garden. What more could you ask for? Well, there are multiple outdoor areas for portraits as well as large getting ready areas for both bride and groom on the second floor of the mansion. The main floor serves as the reception space and you can have your big entrance by descending down the grand staircase. This place just exudes elegance and romance.

The Arbors Events

Located on a working tree farm, the Arbors offers beautiful scenery and a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding. They have two different indoor spaces, each with an epic grand fireplace.

The Quarry at Carrigan Farms

If you’re looking for a venue with a gorgeous backdrop, but not a lot of frills, definitely take a look at The Quarry at Carrigan Farms. Ceremonies are generally held on the granite cliffs overlooking the Quarry and you can have them time it to turn on the waterfall when you say “I Do”. Receptions are held under a covered pavilion, which is open-air during the warmer months. Farm-to-table meals are included in all wedding packages and prepared on-site. At night they light the fire pits and set up colored lights on the falls!

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

This is another Best Impressions venue! Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden offers a variety of daytime and evening rental packages with varying access to the Orchid Conservatory, Crape Myrtle Grove, Four Seasons Lawn, the White Garden, and the Great Hall.

Catawba Falls Events

We love the combo of the lakeside views and large ballroom that you get at Catawba Falls. They have a variety of options for ceremony sites and they only host one wedding per day to allow you full access to the grounds.

The Ballantyne Hotel

Looking for luxury? Check out the The Ballantyne Hotel. It’s elegant and timeless interiors bring a classic look to your day.
