To make choosing your Charlotte Engagement Session Locations even easier, we’ve complied a list of all of our favorite places around Charlotte. We generally say that locations will fall into one of two categories: urban or rural. Some locations can fall into both types, like parks in cities. We divided the following lists into three categories, depending on the vibe: Uptown Charlotte and Skyline Views, Urban, Industrial, and Artsy, and Rural Vibes within Driving Distance. Below you’ll find a list of our favorite places to take engagement photos!
Right in the heart of uptown Charlotte, you get the iconic view of the Charlotte skyline. You’re also within walking distance of popular attractions such as the Carolina Panthers Stadium, Charlotte Knights Stadium, Latta Arcade, Mint Museum Uptown, and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. With all of this architecture, city streets, and little alleyways, you’ll get plenty of urban vibes if you start your Charlotte Engagement Session here!
Since this park is typically crowded, just be sure to be patient as we wait for people to get out of our shot 😉 Check out Morghyn and Wade‘s Elegant Engagement Session based in Romare Bearden!
Marshall Park is located in Second Ward and is a great spot for a mix of greenery and urban vibes. There is a big pond (with ducks!) and a nice view of the skyline. The best part is that street parking is free after 6 and on weekends and that the park is usually pretty empty!
Fourth Ward Park is so quiet and beautiful and you’d never realize that you were two blocks away from Uptown Charlotte! It’s a sweet little oasis in the heart of Uptown, but just a few steps away you can find historic homes and urban vibes. This is a great Charlotte Engagement Session location for the couple that wants the best of both worlds!
You can see one of our favorite shoots here with Jasmine and Bryant.
The newest park in Uptown Charlotte also offers spectacular views of Charlotte’s skyline and is in close proximity to fun photo spots such as the Google Fiber Building, 7th Street Market, the light rail. With the CATS Lightrail right there, wandering a little further into the city from First Ward Park to hit some other locations like EpiCentre or the Convention Center is easy. We had a blast wandering around First Ward with Alex and Jake!
Ever been to Target in Midtown Charlotte? Of course you have! Well then maybe you’ve noticed the little park that runs along South Kings Drive, right across from the Farmers Market? With beautiful pathways, bridges, and greenery, Midtown Park is a great little spot for some photos. This park gives us Central Park NYC vibes!

One of our favorite places in Charlotte right now is located just a few miles north of uptown! Camp North End has everything from colorful murals, old buildings, and repurposed Airstreams make this such a fun place to take photos! Most nights are fair game for taking photos here, but Fridays are filled with huge crowds for their weekly “Friday Nights at CNE” event, so best to steer clear of those two days. Check out Alex and Klay‘s Camp North End Engagement Session!
We love wandering around Plaza Midwood and finding all the little quirky spots. There’s color and character EVERYWHERE! Plaza is so relaxed, so if you want a casual vibe, this is a great location to consider. And if you guys want to stop at Legion for a beer or drop by Two Scoops for a post-session treat, we’re totally down! Check out Brittany and Bryan’s Plaza Midwood Engagement Session!
With iconic murals like the Heart Wall and lots of interesting urban architecture, we could wander around South End for hours! We love all the variety in this area and how we find new alcoves and inspiration every time we visit. Plus, you can end the night with ice cream at Jeni’s!
Known for its artsy vibes, NoDa is a great place to bring some colorful urban imagery into your session. Between the fun architecture by the new lightrail stop, the adorable little main drag, and the proximity to so many breweries, there is SO much fun to be had here. And if you wanted to drop by Mac Tabby Cat Cafe, we wouldn’t be mad about it ;P
Fields, forests, and Lake Norman: oh my! There’s so much variety here in such a small area and it’s never crowded. We actually had some of our own photos taken here! It looks especially pretty in the summer and fall and it’s only a short drive from Charlotte.
Just a few minutes off I-77 in Huntersville, Jetton Park is one of our favorite places to take engagement photos (us and everyone else. Seriously, one time we saw at least 7 other photographers there, but that didn’t stop us from getting stellar shots). You can get right on Lake Norman for some lake scenes and there are also pretty trails surrounded by tall trees! Check out a variety of Jetton Park engagement sessions HERE!
Technically still within Charlotte, the Whitewater Center is just a quick drive out to the west. With trails lined with tall grasses and open fields, this is a great little spot for those of you looking for more of that wide open wilderness feel. I mean, just look at this sun-drenched gorgeousness!
