Want to know the craziest thing about this gorgeous engagement session up at Hawksbill Mountain NC? We’d never even met Tim and James in person before this very day! Thanks to COVID, we met with these guys virtually back in mid-April, but by the end of the call, we learned three very important things:

1. They’re Disney fanatics,
2. They adore the mountains (hence why they wanted their session on top of a mountain and also why their wedding is in one of our favorite mountain towns: Morganton, NC) and,
3. We freaking adore them!

Tim and James are some of the kindest, most positive, and most joyful people we have ever met and it is an honor to be able to make their photography dreams come true. Tim told us from the very start that his ideal engagement photos would be in the mountains, so we hiked a mountain! We LOVE NC Mountain engagement sessions – in fact, our VERY first one was in the mountains!

Hawksbill Mountain NC Trail

The Hawksbill Mountain NC Trail is a “quick” (30-45 min) 2-mile round-trip hike with a steep incline. We all got our hearts pumping by the time we reached the top, but man were those views worth it! It was also almost 20 degrees cooler at the top with a breeze and it was beyond refreshing. As you can see from the images, the sunset was gorgeous and we could not have picked a more beautiful evening to make this trek.

We stayed until the sun went down and, thank goodness we thought to bring headlamps because the hike back down the mountain trail was pitch black!! One of the scarier things we’ve ever done on a shoot for sure. But these guys kept us in good spirits the whole way down and we all made it back home safe and sound.

We are so excited for these two and can’t wait to be at their wedding at Hidden Hill in April 2021!
