I think, out of everything, what we appreciate most about Alex and Evan’s wedding at The Rafters at Historic St. Mark’s was just how much personality they threw into EVERY aspect of it. They are playful and nerdy and proud of it! Alex is a DM (Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master for those of you who aren’t familiar) so Evan had personalized D20 dice made for their wedding day. Evan is also really into 3D printing, so he printed lithophanes of photos of the two of them for reception tables. And the DJ… Oh, man, we’ve never heard music that was so perfectly catered to the crowd (I mean, EVERYONE was singing along all night long). Our personal favorite surprise banger was the Pokémon theme song! Of course, we also have to mention the light up cat ears that they handed out on the dancefloor. Love, love, love!
The Rafters at Historic St. Mark’s has a number of buildings which includes a place to get ready. Alex and Evan each enjoyed a relaxing morning: Alex with mimosas and Evan with games!
Historic St. Mark’s is first and foremost a church, but recently they opened up a wonderful wedding venue on property. For photographers, the sun sets beautifully behind the woods at the outdoor ceremony site. Up the hill, there’s a gorgeous area with trees that’s sun soaked for portraits as well, and we ALL had fun letting Alex’s dress soak up that sunlight.
As with most weddings, the night ended with an epic dance party filled with Alex and Evan’s close friends. As the night went on things got more and more… dramatic? Chaotic? Funny? Any way you try to describe it, the ENERGY just kept on increasing, and the images we got ALL bring huge smiles to our faces. Hell, being there brought huge smiles to our faces. Alex and Evan are incredible people and they deserved the party that they got.
