Spending the day with Alex and Jacob was like hanging out with two friends that we’ve known forever. When we were talking about Charlotte engagement session locations, we were trying to decide between Jetton Park and Uptown Charlotte. We’re SO glad that they settled on Uptown Charlotte for their Engagement Session, because of the wide variety of photos that you can get in such a short period of time. We could shoot Uptown every day and never run out of ideas or backgrounds.
Alex and Jacob started off their session with their dogs included, which we always love. Their dogs are a big part of their lives, and we always support our couples who want to include them! From there, we started walking around uptown and found some fun new tile murals, but then we hit the jackpot – the most beautiful slice of light in the most unlikely of places: an empty parking lot. Seriously, sometimes, and empty parking lot is all you need for an Uptown Engagement Session. Since the sun sets behind the buildings uptown before actual sunset, low spaces like parking lots get the best sun in the evenings.
After the sun set, we had a few minutes while wandering back to our cars, and we found this amazing mural in Uptown Charlotte. As part of the Wall Poems of Charlotte movement, this line is from a poem called Bus Stop, and the black flowers signal the viewer to really take in the historic venue. We saw the phrase “These Lives We Lead” and thought that perfectly represented Alex and Jacob’s new marriage, so we ended the night with a creative shot in front of one of the coolest murals in Uptown Charlotte.
We’ll be celebrating Alex and Jacob next November at Sweet Magnolia Estate, and we could not be more excited for both of them!
