Almost all wedding days don’t go 100% as planned, but 2020 certainly threw everyone for a loop. Most of our 2020 couples had to reschedule their big day, but Megan and Mickey here made the most out what they had already planned. Their original wedding date was set for September 26, 2020 at Alexander Homestead, a popular wedding venue here in Charlotte and also the filming location for the Charlotte season of Married at First Sight! With the uncertainty of COVID-19 and continuing state restrictions on large gatherings, Megan and Mickey made the smart decision to reschedule their big celebration to March of 2021. However, they still wanted to get married and still had Alexander Homestead booked on their original date, so they went ahead and said “I Do” anyway!

While it wasn’t what they originally planned or expected, the micro wedding day/elopement/COVID wedding /whatever you want to call it was still perfect in it’s own way. They invited just a few of their closest friends and family (most of whom wore masks!) and had a very small and intimate ceremony with their dogs serving as their wedding party. Megan’s dog, Gracie, escorted her down the aisle and Scarlet, their other dog, stood by Mickey for moral support. Megan and Mickey said some very personalized vows back and forth to each other, resulting in a few belly laughs, and then kissed to make it official! After the ceremony, the vibe could be described as nothing but “chill”, which is pretty different than most weddings. They signed their marriage license and socialized with their loved ones. There was really no agenda. When they decided it was time for cake, Mickey was so excited for it that he simply served himself and Megan’s reaction is priceless (scroll down to see)!

As you can see from their topper, Megan and Mickey are big gamers, so when they came to our home to see their photos for the first time on the big screen, we couldn’t help but invite them to play a game with us too. We’ve enjoyed every moment we’ve been able to spend with these two and are selfishly a little excited that we get to see them again in March for their Big Day Part 2!
