Kate and Will are water people. She rows and and he whitewater kayaks, so the U.S. National Whitewater Center trails were the perfect place for these two to have their engagement session. We love that the Whitewater Center is so close to us here in Charlotte. Between the trails, the activities, and the events, there is always so much to do and it’s just 20 minutes away! There were no events going on this day, so we basically had the trails to ourselves. We didn’t bother heading down to the whitewater since these two preferred to stay dry for their session, but maybe next time we can convince them to do some action shots!

The best way to describe Kate and Will is “light-hearted”, “adventurous”, and “super smiley”. Kate tried to warn us pre-session that she doesn’t photograph well, so it was our mission to prove just how wrong she was! Now, we are all our own worst critics when it comes to seeing ourselves in photos, but there’s no denying that Kate looked absolutely stunning in these playful engagement photos. The sunset this evening was gorgeous and Kate and Will had no issue adventuring off the path and into the tall grass for some really lovely backlit portraits.

After the session, we parted ways, but we have every intention of returning just to hang out with these two, sans cameras. They have such a positive energy about them and we cannot wait for their wedding September. The wedding is actually going to be held at Kate’s rowing club on Lake Wylie and they are very excited to bring family and friends together for casual day of celebration. We might even get a chance to see one of our past couples at the wedding since that’s how Kate found out about us!
