We first met with Kris and Pat in March of 2019 and then did their fun Uptown Engagement Session in July in preparation for what was supposed to be a June 2020 wedding. When they were forced to reschedule due to the pandemic, Kris and Pat were incredibly awesome and did everything within their power to work with us to reschedule so we could still capture their wedding at the Springhill Suites in Uptown Charlotte. There was no way we were going to miss their big day!

Getting Married at the Springhill Suites in Uptown Charlotte

When the wedding day finally arrived, we were PUMPED! We started off the morning with Kris in her getting ready room, which was bustling with activity between hair and makeup, last minute meals, and prepping things for later in the day. Kris and Pat had their first look on the lobby staircase and then knocked out ALL of their family formals before the ceremony even started. They held their ceremony inside the event space with the skyline in the background and then flipped the space during cocktail hour while they escaped to the top of the parking deck for some cool portraits.

Giving Gifts on the Wedding Day

One of our favorite things about Kris and Pat’s wedding day, was how much they focused on showing their gratitude for everyone who played an important role in their relationships. They gave personalized gifts to each parent and grandparent and took the time on their wedding day to be there for each unwrapping. It was so personal and there were so many hugs. Kris and Pat also exchanged gifts with each other. Kris surprised Pat with a bottle of Blanton’s Bourbon, which is really hard to get here in NC and she actually joined Jess in a local Bourbon group to track it down! Pat gifted Kris a beautiful diamond necklace to wear on the day-of.

One of the Best Uptown Charlotte Wedding Venues

Prior to Kris and Pat’s wedding, we’d never worked at SpringHill Suites Charlotte Uptown, but it is now one of our favorite venues to recommend. It’s super easy to have guests stay on site, and it’s conveniently located right in the middle of uptown, close to public transportation and restaurants. Because every part of the wedding day is all under one roof, it makes logistics super easy. There is an incredible ceremony and reception space with floor to ceiling glass windows for an epic view of the Charlotte skyline and a private rooftop patio. Even better: it’s also reasonably priced for all that comes with it as a venue. Definitely one of the more underrated wedding venues in Charlotte.

When choosing her wedding venue, Kris said “I’m a sucker for a city view.” Springhill Suites Charlotte Uptown definitely hit the mark. It was really neat to watch the sun set over the city throughout their reception on the 16th floor and that private patio was quite popular by the end of the night as guests cooled off from all the dancing.
