Alex and Brett’s wedding at Pleasant Grove Farm started off a little different than most, because the second that we walked in the door, the focus was on us. Why? Well, this was the last wedding we had before Theo, our son, entered the world, and out of pure coincidence, the entire bridal party were doctors who had ALL delivered multiple babies. Our “hello”s and “nice to meet you”s that we usually give everyone turned into “eh, if you go into labor we’ve got you covered”. This was a first for us. However, Alex and Brett surround themselves with people who care deeply for others.

Alex had a unique wedding dress that was in a light blue, and when she went outside, she had furs ready to accessorize with. Why? Well other than being stylish, it was a really good way to deal with the cold – and it got COLD that night (by North Carolina standards, of course 😉 ) Alex figured out the perfect way to blend classic beauty with modern uniqueness.

Alex and Brett chose Pleasant Grove Farm for their wedding, which was a new venue to us! We heard that the venue came about because a father built the barn for his daughter’s wedding, and now it stands on a gorgeous property about 12 minutes from Uptown Charlotte. The venue features an entire house with a pool for getting ready, tons of parking and open field space, a fountain, and the AC controlled giant barn with loft area. The weather on Alex and Brett’s wedding day was absolutely gorgeous, so we took full advantage of the beautiful outdoor space.

Alex and Brett were (SURPRISE) already married when the day of the ceremony came. It was actually a vow renewal! Because of that, they wanted to keep things super casual. Everybody gathered around, standing room only, custom cocktails in hand, and celebrated the pair.

How to Make a Wedding Reception Personalized!

Okay okay enough about the actual wedding – Alex and Brett’s reception was absolutely incredible! Every aspect of it was unique to them, including:

• Dessert Tower: A handmade cake MADE BY ALEX and cookies from a local bakery on the rest of the tiers
• Cocktails: His and Hers personalized cocktails
• Food: BOUK Catering showed off with multiple stations around the venue featuring different cuisines and types of food.
• Activities: They brought in a live caricature artist for guests to get personalized artwork!
• Music: One of the most energetic live bands we’ve ever heard, it was just like a concert
• Night Portraits: Y’all know we’re nerds, right? Well BRETT brought his state-of-the-art lightsabers to play around with, and play we did
• Exit: A fantastic snow machine exit on the lawn
