When I (Jess) first moved to Charlotte, I needed some sort of physical activity to take up my time (this was before wedding photography was even a spark of a thought!). Crew/Rowing was something that I had been interested in for a while but USC (South Carolina), where I went to college, didn’t offer it. However, Charlotte has an incredible flat-water river nearby, so I was able to find a great opportunity to learn to row.

That’s where I met Anna. Anna was my rowing instructor and had such a vibrant personality and was so supportive and encouraging. Learning from her was easy, and she made everything really fun!

Fast forward to a few weeks ago when Anna reached out to us with “I don’t know if you remember me or not…” with the awesome news that she was engaged! How could I not remember her?!?

We met Anna and Adam over drinks and got to know them and their story, and you can just see that they are a perfect fit for each other! We took their engagement photos in Jetton park, where we did NOT get the sunset we wanted, but you know what? That’s totally okay! We spent most of the session laughing and dodging raindrops, but Adam and Anna’s infectious happiness didn’t let that get them down at ALL. We laughed SO much during the session, and cannot WAIT to capture their beautiful wedding at Sweet Magnolia Estate next year! So thankful that photography gave us the opportunity to give back to such a great teacher and an amazing couple!
