Intimate Louisville Kentucky Wedding | Kyle and Josh

Intimate Louisville Kentucky outdoor Wedding Peterson-Dumesnil House

Kyle and Josh’s intimate Louisville Kentucky wedding wasn’t about grandeur… it was about heart. They first met in high school simply running in the same social circles but life pulled them in different directions for college. Their paths aligned once again years later thanks to Tinder and a reconnection that began as friendship, eventually blooming into a beautiful and incredibly supportive relationship. They’re the couple who cooks together, plays games together, travels together, and loves hosting family. Their story is full of warmth, humor, and a whole lot of intention and their wedding day reflected every bit of that.

Oh and did we mention that they love craft cocktails? Kyle initially only reached out to us for engagement photos since the actual wedding would be out of state in Louisville, Kentucky. But we were like, “wait a hot second… can we come?” haha. We all bonded over an appreciation for bourbon and fancy cocktails… so much so that half of their engagement session took place in a cocktail bar! They were even so kind as to invite us to participate in some of the pre-wedding celebrations and we enjoyed hanging out with the majority of their wedding party during a few necessary distillery visits while in Louisville.

Intimate is the perfect word to describe this Louisville, Kentucky wedding because Kyle and Josh and their guests spent more than just the wedding day together. This felt almost like a field trip with all of their favorite people… and we were invited! We got to know Kyle and Josh and their biggest supporters on a level that we don’t normally get to have. There’s no question that we made some new friends along our photography journey with them and we kinda wish they could have another wedding so that we could party with them all over again.

Getting Ready at the Peterson-Dumesnil House

The day began at the historic Peterson-Dumesnil House, where sunlight poured through tall windows and the rooms felt calm and timeless. Kyle and Josh got ready just a few steps away from each other, exchanging quiet smiles and adjusting bowties with a mix of nerves and excitement. The elegance of their suits (Kyle in beige and Josh blue) photographed beautifully against the refined backdrop of the house. And then came one of the sweetest moments of the entire day: a visit from Captain! Tail wagging and dressed for the occasion, he stole everyone’s hearts (and definitely added a few extra portraits to the gallery).

An Intimate Ceremony Filled With Meaning

Kyle and Josh’s wedding ceremony was small, tender, and intentionally crafted. One of the highlights was a handwashing ritual, symbolizing renewal, partnership, and entering married life with clarity and devotion. As their closest friends and family looked on, Kyle and Josh held each other’s gaze completely present and connected. Adding to the intimacy, Kyle and Josh chose to exchange private vows with each other after the ceremony (accompanied by signature cocktails). We don’t know what was said, but we know it was sweet, raw, and emotional.

A Reception They’ll Never Forget

Once the reception started? It was time to party!!! The energy was electric and everyone completely committed to celebrating these two. It was the kind of dancefloor where you can feel the crowd vibrating with joy. Kyle and Josh were in the center of it all, losing themselves in the moment, surrounded by the people who’ve championed their relationship from day one.
