If you’re looking for an engagement session location that has everything from quaint historic homes and greenery to a diverse urban landscape, you should consider Fourth Ward Charlotte engagement photos. It’s one of our favorite engagement session locations for a reason! Located in the northern quadrant of Charlotte, Fourth Ward Park is a great starting location for any engagement session. The park itself is never too busy and is so quiet that you’d never think you were in the middle of Uptown Charlotte surrounded by skyscrapers. The surrounding Victorian-style homes, narrow alleyways, and beautiful gardens create an enchanting setting that is both intimate and captivating. But walk just one or two blocks away and you can find more modern architecture, meaning that Fourth Ward engagement photos blend the past and the present of Charlotte seamlessly.
Golden Hour was ON POINT for Nicole and Archie’s romantic summer evening engagement photos. We wandered everywhere from Forth Ward Park, to some historic stone stairs to a random city street for some more modern urban looks. The main thing that Nicole and Archie wanted was some candid photos that captured their nature love together. It didn’t take much to get Nicole to laugh and her smile is just infectious, so that was easy enough! And when we had some ideas for some more dramatic and sultry shots, they were more than game.
When we first met with Jasmine and Bryant, the first words that came to their minds when they thought about the types of images they wanted was “epic”. All we truly needed to do was just put these two in front of a wall and anything we got would be epic, which was good because we’ve gotten into a bad habit lately of finding these AWESOME locations in Uptown and then getting kicked out of them. It’s like the city of Charlotte wants to keep all the good light to itself and not share it! (Which sounds like a superhero movie description, but I digress). When that sort of things happen, we just end up moving right along and find another awesome location. And that’s exactly how we found a simple doorstep on the outskirts of uptown and made magic.
When Megan and Mickey chose to have their engagement session in Uptown Charlotte, we didn’t really think much of it. I mean, a lot of newly engaged couples in Charlotte choose to have their engagement session in Uptown because it’s such a great way to show the rest of the world where you’re from. However, what we didn’t know is that Megan’s father is actually a big part of why Uptown Charlotte looks the way it does.
We started their session in Fourth Ward Park (where there was actually another couple with another photographer taking their engagement photos…great minds think alike?). We love to start there because even in the midst of uptown, Fourth Ward Park provides some really nice greenery. From there, we wandered throughout the city finding little pockets of light and cool backgrounds until we ended the night in Romare Bearden Park.
If you scroll to the bottom, you can see the famous “jukebox building” in the background. Wanna know who the architect behind that building was? I’ll give you three guesses.
But if you didn’t guess Megan’s dad, well, you haven’t been reading. And that’s okay, this blog is more for the pictures anyways 😉
