So many of our couples had planned 2020 weddings that were rescheduled to 2021. Kelsey and Geoff legally married on their original 2020 date, but were eager to celebrate with their friends and family over a year and a half later and finally get some wedding photos! All they cared about was celebrating with their family and friends at Founders Hall, which is why we thought that this was such a classic wedding.
Founders Hall, located in the center of uptown Charlotte, is a dream venue! Everything from the arched glass ceiling to the ornate floors is sophisticated and grandiose. However, there is definitely a way to turn Founders Hall into a classic wedding venue. On top of that, the venue is able to host a large number of people for both ceremony and reception and is conveniently connected to the Omni hotel. Lastly, it’s a Best Impressions venue, which means everything will be well-organized and the food will be delicious.
Kelsey and Geoff started their wedding day by getting ready at the Omni Charlotte surrounded by friends and family. Kelsey did a first look with her bridesmaids, however her Maid of Honor was present only over Facetime because she unfortunately came down with Covid only a few days before. After waiting SO long to show off her gorgeous wedding gown, Kelsey also did a first look with her dad and then Geoff, which resulted in some super sweet hugs.
Founders Hall doesn’t require much in the way of decoration because it is already so beautiful on it’s own. If you haven’t seen our other wedding that we covered at Founders Hall, go check out Karly and Ken for some inspiration!
We loved incorporating the patterns from the vaulted atrium into the photos as well as some reflections off the marble floors (I don’t think we’ve ever seen cleaner floors!). There were so many good opportunities for photos in this space that we didn’t even need to go outside to get some awesome portraits of the newlyweds!
Kelsey and Geoff’s wedding reception was filled with sweet moments. From their first dance together, to heartfelt speeches, to her Maid of Honor calling in over the DJ sound system to give her speech from afar (seriously, she called in from her phone!). But as the formal activities came to a close and the dancefloor opened up, the vibe changed and this crew was ready to PAR-TAY! Maybe it was being cooped up because of Covid or maybe it was because they waited and extra year and a half for this celebration, but this crowd surprised us with their wild energy and dancing all the way through the end of the night.
