Honestly, it’s been quite a while since we’ve gone out for New Years in Charlotte. When we got the opportunity to shoot Tenley and Frank’s wedding on New Years Eve in Charlotte, it was a no-brainer. The day took us all over the city to multiple locations. We even split up and came back together multiple times (the benefit of two photographers!), and ended with an amazing champagne spray to ring in the new year!

Tenley and Frank got ready for the day in separate homes to ease stress. Frank even included their cats and childhood home in his morning!

First Look at Freedom Park

Lucky for us, the weather was absolutely perfect on New Years Eve in Charlotte. Tenley and Frank had their first look at Freedom Park, which is one of Charlotte’s biggest parks. They saw each other for the first time, read their vows to each other, and took advantage of the beautiful weather with some portraits. After, Tenley surprised Frank with a limo for transportation to their next location: Historic St. Mary’s!

New Years Eve Wedding Ceremony at St. Mary’s Chapel in Charlotte

The biggest advantage to having a wedding on New Years Eve in Charlotte is the ability to have more options when you choose your venue, and Tenley and Frank were able to secure St. Mary’s Chapel easily for their ceremony! If you live in Charlotte, you’ve probably driven by the historic chapel often and not even realized it! Located right outside of Uptown, the small church has gorgeous stained windows, but can be a bit dark, so if you choose to have your wedding here, make sure you have a photographer who can handle low light situations well! Ringing in the New Year at Trolley Barn

The third and final destination of the day was at Trolley Barn, in South End Charlotte! You may be thinking, “wait a second, isn’t this a brewery?,” and you’d be right! Tenley and Frank were smart: They took advantage of Trolley Barn’s existing New Years Eve party, and rented out the space upstairs for a private event where everybody in Charlotte could celebrate their wedding with them! We ended the night with some incredible dramatic portraits, as well as getting messy with a kickass champagne spray. There is honestly no other way we would’ve wanted to spend our New Years Eve than hanging out with these two!
