Charlotte Indian Fusion Wedding | Mallika and Josh

Mallika and Josh’s Indian-American Fusion wedding in Charlotte was one of the most incredible weddings we’ve had the honor and privilege of capturing.

We still VERY clearly remember when we first met up with Mallika and Josh. A few puns and bottles of wine later, we really didn’t want the night to end. We knew that they were special and their wedding would be representative of who they were. However, we just didn’t know how incredible it would end up being!

Traditional American Ceremony at The Hotel Concord

While most of Mallika and Josh’s celebration had some sort of Indian element, the first part of their wedding weekend was probably the least Indian and most American or Western in style. Dressed in all white (actually considered the color of mourning in Indian culture), Mallika was escorted down the aisle by her mother and joined Josh in front of all of their family friends where they exchanged personalized vows.

The Sangeet – An Indian Fusion Wedding Party

The Sangeet is a pre-wedding event and is simply a celebration of coming together of the two families. It generally includes dance performances by relatives of the bride and groom and an open dance floor to commemorate the festivities for the following days.

Mallika and Josh chose to have their Western ceremony and then go straight into the Sangeet rather than a formal reception, which honestly are two very similar events anyway. You may notice Mallika’s outfit “tweak” of a beautiful white dupatta over her left shoulder. Mallika and Josh added a fun shoe game to their entertainment line up and capped off the night with a private last dance and sparkler exit! It was the perfect way to combine two different cultures to get a Charlotte Indian Fusion Wedding!

Be sure to check out what happened on the second day, coming soon!
