We are always looking for unique locations to shoot engagement photos, so when Kyle and Josh suggested a Durham cocktail bar for their session, we were all for it! Kyle and Josh found us through a mutual friend, originally only looking for engagement pictures. But, after talking with them, we knew it needed to be more (:P). Not only are these two so much fun to hang out with, but they also have incredible plans to get married in Louisville, KY, which we’ve always wanted to visit! It didn’t take too much convincing and they happily agreed!

Rainy Day Photos

The original plan for the Durham engagement session was to start with an outdoor location before heading to the cocktail bar. The forecast was looking real iffy on the day of the session, but we decided to take our chances. Unfortunately, it started downpouring on our drive there and we were scrambling to come up with a rain plan. As luck would have it, the rain tapered off just in time for the start of our session and we got these incredible images just beyond the Cox Mountain Trailhead in Durham.⁠

Kingfisher craft cocktail bar in the heart of Downtown Durham is easily one of the coolest cocktail bars we’ve ever been to! Tucked away in a moody basement, this creative establishment focuses on “Ground-to-Glass” cocktails and combine super unique ingredients gathered locally from Durham and the South. Being craft cocktail enthusiasts ourselves, we we’re pumped when Kyle and Josh requested this particular Durham cocktail bar for their engagement photos. We all started off by ordering a cocktail (necessary props) and then stayed to socialize for another round after the session was over.
