We didn’t know our photography profile was missing anything until Katie and Robby told us their epic idea for wakeboarding engagement photos! We aren’t wakeboarders ourselves, but it is totally their thing, so we were 1000% sold when they floated (ha!) the idea of wakeboarding during their engagement session.
From the second Katie filled out the contact form on our website, we knew she and Robby were our kinda people. She described their relationship very accurately as “a super laid-back couple who just always have fun together”. When we met up with them (and their dogs!) at Primal Brewery in Huntersville, I swear we could’ve talked for hours. We also found so many strange shared connections and mutual acquaintances that it was a wonder we didn’t all already know each other! It felt like we had been friends for years, which is exactly what we hope to build with our clients.
They already had us sold on being their photographers with our shared interests in outdoor activities, games, and theme parks, but when Katie shared her idea for wakeboarding engagement photos, we knew we had to shoot it! We started off the session at Jetton Park with Katie and Robby dressed up doing the “normal, beautiful pictures” and then transitioned to wakeboarding on the lake while still in their formal wear! Katie has been wakeboarding most of her life and got Robby into the sport, so not only was this idea cool as hell, but it was also very meaningful to them. Katie’s dad owns a house on the lake nearby, so he took us all out on the boat at sunset. If this was just the engagement session, we can’t wait to see what fun ideas they are planning for their wedding next June at Sweet Magnolia Estate!
